VIRTUAL BRUTALISM
Expo
August 17 - 21
7pm - 10 pm daily
60 years ago, a provocative architectural style emerged in Europe.
Le Corbusier's "béton brut" is usually regarded as the seminal notion of
this raw and rugged aesthetic. British architectural critic Reyner
Banham adapted the term into "brutalism" in 1956.
In the meantime, construction has extended beyond the realm of
concrete and found new ways to challenge taste and perception. VIRTUAL
BRUTALISM presents digital architecture, procedural screen art, in-game
photography and new modes of rawness which might or might not have been
inspired by brutalist architecture.
Please note that no works considered brutal (as in violent) will be
displayed during this exhibition. Admission is free at all times.
